Titanic items for auction

Auctioneers are preparing to sell off recovered artifacts from the Titanic next week along side other ocean liner memorabilia.

Christie’s says the deck log of the SS MacKay-Bennett - the second ship to arrive on the scene after the Titanic went down - is the most significant rescue ship artifact ever offered for sale.

Experts estimate the log’s pre-sale value at 30 to $40,000.

The Titanic’s first-class passenger list is another hot item. Prominent New York family names such as the Astors, Guggenheims and Strauses are among those listed. Auction officials expect it to sell for 15 to $20,000.
